Marin County Psychological Association (MCPA) Membership Information

Membership Categories and Qualifications


Please determine your membership below. Applicants enter membership at the highest level for which they are qualified; pre-doctoral students enrolled in a graduate psychology program may enter at the Student Member level.

Become a Member

Full Members

 



Members are entitled to vote, hold office on the Board of Directors, and chair a standing committee. Members must be primarily engaged in the advancement of psychology as a science and as a profession, and meet the following qualifications:

A doctoral degree based in part on a psychological dissertation conferred by a graduate school whose graduates are eligible to apply for licensure in psychology by the Board of Psychology   AND
A psychologist’s license issued by the State of California   AND
The applicant is engaged in professional work that is primarily psychological in nature
Annual dues for full membership are $100. The membership year is January 1 - December 31.

In the first year of licensure as a psychologist, dues are $55

Associate Members

 



Associates hold all the privileges of membership except the right to vote, hold office on the Board of Directors, or chair a standing committee.  Associates who become eligible for full membership according to the above qualifications must automatically advance to Full Member status.  Associates are interested in the advancement of psychology as a science and as a profession, and meet the following qualifications:

Completion of at least two years of graduate work in psychology   OR
A Master’s degree in psychology  AND
The applicant is engaged in professional work that is primarily psychological in nature.

Annual dues:  $60

Student Members

 



Student members hold all the privileges of membership except the right to vote, hold office on the Board of Directors, or chair a standing committee. Student members are graduate students, unlicensed post-doctoral applicants and those preparing for licensure in the field of psychology.

Annual dues: $35 (First Year: Free)


Life Members

 



Life members have been members of the Marin County Psychological Association for at least ten (10) years and either: (1) have reached the age of 65 and are retired or (2) present evidence of a permanent disability. Life Members shall retain those rights and privileges of the class of membership held prior to becoming Life Members.

Annual dues: $30

Honorary Members

 




Honorary Members are persons appointed to this category by the Board of Directors, based on outstanding contributions made to the field of psychology. Honorary Members shall have all the privileges of membership except the right to vote, to hold office on the Board of Directors, or to chair a standing committee.
