Our natural desire to alleviate pain, the feeling that something is amiss can compel us to seek relief. Change is possible. A clinician (school psychologist, 1988; MFT, 1993; licensed psychologist, 2003) for over 30 years, I have helped individuals reconnect to their feelings, relieve anxiety, lighten depression, understand themselves more fully, clarify their goals, learn new ways of responding to internal and external stimuli, and find more joy in their life. Everyone acquires new ways of behaving, thinking, and feeling in a unique manner. Through respectful collaboration I strive to find the approach that feels most natural to you.
My studies, personal exploration, and experience in schools, mental health clinics, Kaiser outpatient services, and private practice have helped me become well-versed in psychodynamic traditions, family systems theories, various forms of cognitive-behavioral therapies, brief therapies, mindfulness techniques, and somatic strategies. In addition to supporting individuals through transitions, uncovering their authentic self, and addressing the challenges of aging, I am also comfortable helping neurodiverse individuals (ASD, learning disabled) navigate their emotional world.
I've worked with couples to help resolve conflicts and increase marital satisfaction. My extensive experience with children allows me to increase parent’s understanding of their child’s strengths and needs to develop successful parenting strategies.
