Biography
I have been in private practice since 1987, working with adults, couples and children/adolescents aged 4 to 18. I trained for three years in Bay Area Children's Hospitals and do play therapy with young children along with parent consultations. I also do parent consultations around a variety of parenting issues, with or without the child being in therapy. My practice extends to work with older adults and issues that come up in the later years of life. In couples and individual work, I work collaboratively toward client goals around stress reduction, emotional awareness, emotional regulation skills, and improved communication skills. I also incorporate body approaches as needed, including breath work, relaxation skills, and healthy self care goals.
My master's and doctoral research, respectively, were on the effects of race and socioeconomics on therapeutic process and outcome and the effects of gender in therapist and client pairings on therapy process and outcome for female clients. My lengthy involvement in therapy research has informed my practice well.
