Membership Categories and Qualifications

Full Members:
Members are entitled to vote, hold office on the Board of Directors, and chair a standing committee. Members must be primarily engaged in the advancement of psychology as a science and as a profession, and meet the following qualifications:
- A doctoral degree based in part on a psychological dissertation conferred by a graduate school whose graduates are eligible to apply for licensure in psychology by the Board of Psychology OR
- A psychologist’s license issued by the State of California AND
- The applicant is engaged in professional work that is primarily psychological in nature
Annual dues:
Members who both work and live in Marin County: $80
Members who live in Marin but work outside of the county, or work in Marin but live outside the county:
$50
In the first year of licensure, fees are discounted: $45
Associate Members:
Associates hold all the privileges of membership except the right to vote, hold office on the Board of Directors, or chair a standing committee. Associates who become eligible for full membership according to the above qualifications must automatically advance to Full Member status. Associates are interested in the advancement of psychology as a science and as a profession, and meet the following qualifications:
- Completion of at least two years of graduate work in psychology OR
- A Master’s degree in psychology AND
- The applicant is engaged in professional work that is primarily psychological in nature.
Annual dues: $50
Student Members:
Student members hold all the privileges of membership except the right to vote, hold office on the Board of Directors, or chair a standing committee. Student members are graduate students, unlicensed post-doctoral applicants and those preparing for licensure in the field of psychology.
Annual dues: $25 (First Year: Free)
Emeritus Members:
Emeritus members are entitled to vote, hold office on the Board of Directors, and chair a standing committee. They have been members of MCPA for at least ten years and have reached the age of 65 and are retired.
Annual dues: $20
