Introduction:
Hello! My name is Laura Dunning, and I have a private practice in Novato, California. I have been a licensed psychologist for 21 years, and have worked in the mental health field for over 30 years in a variety of settings with people of all ages.
I provide therapy and psychological evaluations to adults, adolescents, children, couples, and families. My areas of specialty include EMDR, stress reduction, anxiety and panic disorders, phobias, depression, mood disorders, grief and loss, self-esteem, life transitions, relationship issues, trauma, chronic pain and illness, infertility, adoption, educational and occupational issues, personality assessment, spirituality, creativity, parenting.
My therapeutic style is warm, supportive, interactive, and educational. My theoretical orientation is intergrative, including cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, psychodynamic, and Jungian perspectives. I aim to alleviate distressing symptoms as quickly as possible (utilizing tools such as EMDR, CBT, stress management, relaxation, and mindfulness training), while helping clients to gain deeper insight and resolve obstacles in order to move forward in balanced, positive directions.
